The Committee is particularly interested in understanding the CCP’s influence operations within the U.S. and impossible reforms. Comer launched the investigation in August.

Whistleblowers revealed the existence of a non-classified Microsoft Teams group chat among DHS employees that discusses Governor Walz. This chat, titled “NST NFT Bi-Weekly Sync,” along with other classified and unclassified documents, could provide critical insights into the Governor’s alleged CCP ties.

“The Committee’s investigation of the CCP—begun long before Governor Walz was elevated to be the vice-presidential candidate for Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris—seeks to understand the extent of the CCP’s infiltration and influence campaign and to identify legislative reforms to combat CCP political warfare targeting prominent Americans for elite capture,” said Chairman James Comer.

Additional intrigue surrounds the Governor’s history of organizing student trips to China during the 1990s, which were funded by the Chinese government, and his company,Tim Walz and his company, “Educational Travel Adventures, Inc.,”sponsored the trips.

The investigation also aims to gauge the extent of the CCP’s influence over American political figures. Comer claims that the committee must urgently understand these influences to address any vulnerabilities within the federal system.

Accusations against Walz have stirred mixed reactions, including strong criticisms from Republican Representative Nancy Mace and conservative commentators. Despite the intensity of these allegations, there remains a lack of substantial evidence to support them.
